Me and the horse

Found this on here from 2007 and discovered I forgot to publish it back then:

Ok, there might be some of you out there that may not believe this, but here goes. At the ripe old age of 36, I finally got the chance to ride a horse. And I'm actually getting the chance to do it as often as I want.

Sure, I've always wanted to. And yes, I've never felt uncomfortable around animals of most sorts. In fact, I've even been told that after my second "lesson" (if you will) that I've picking it up fast and that I look like I know what I'm actually doing. I had to tell that person that I was simply a pretty good actor!

Been doing pretty much a walking trail ride, and some trotting. Or more precisely the horse is trotting and I'm just barely holding on.

My music tastes

Ok, for those that know me, I'm pretty much a country music guy and have been since being stationed in South Korea at Camp Humphries in May 1996. I can remember sitting in the 8th Army prison there on a night shift in the chow hall with my squad leader and watching Australian CMT. The first few videos I saw that night were Shania Twain, Faith Hill and LeAnn Rimes. I just looked at him and said "Are there any female country music singers that *aren't* hot?". He thought for a minutes and said "No, not that I can think of!" :~)

Honestly, while that was part of it, the only other option I had while there was AFKN (now AFN) radio or Chinese MTV. So I chose CMT because it was the same music you got in the states plus a few Australian artists every so often. Hell, for all I know I may have seen Keith Urban back then and not know it.
Anyhow.....the reason I bring this up is because lately, I've started listening to some of the same music I did before that. More in the rock arena. And stopping by people's profiles on MySpace helps.

Just today I ended up hearing a song a few times and had to get it off Rhapsody. Pink - U & Ur Hand. Then, I stopped by another person's profile and liked the song by Hinder - Lips of an Angel. Before that, this person had Chris Daughtry on her profile and I got hooked too. Now, this is someone I used to date and she played his CD in her truck for me a couple of times so it was already in my head a little when I heard it again. But now I have to buy it.

Another thing she and I enjoyed was the 80's hits and One Hit Wonders. She got me on Giant - I'll See You In My Dreams, which I thought sounded a little like Bad English or John Waite for some reason. But it's an awesome song.
So I created a playlist at playlistproject.com and added a bunch of these songs plus a few others I listened to waaaaaayy back!

For those that are interested, the song on the playlist called The Rodeo Song is actually sung by Gary Lee and the Showdown. That was the only one that was listed without credit to a different artist like Garth Brooks or Chris Ledoux. If the people posting them knew anything about country they would know it doesn't sound like either one of them! And all the Chris Ledoux songs I liked didn't work - like Stampede or This Cowboys Hat. Bummer!

But enjoy the songs if you stop by.

Oh, and before anyone asks, yes, I know full well what the song U & Ur Hand is saying. I can understand the words, she is telling a guy he isn't going home with her tonight and that his hand is going to have to suffice and that he can tell his buddies anything they want - it just isn't going to happen. Or at least that is my take on it. But it still is one of those songs that sticks in your head either way.

Daytona 500 Finish!

Ok, I guess out of all the sponsors, the one car that I could actually see finishing the race upside down (and I mean crossing the finish line) is the Jack Daniel's Car. Guess he didn't pace himself and drink responsibly. :~)
For those that don't watch NASCAR or the Daytona race, he came in 18th crossing the line exactly at the point htis picture was taken.
